Texas rivers

We’ve made the trip to Houston yet again.   The drive is always interesting as there are always things to see along the road.

Gatesville is our lunch stopping place since we discovered Bush’s Chicken!  Nice crunchy, crusty, well seasoned chicken.  IMAG0078

Directly across the parking lot from Bush’s, is the Texas First Bank…and look at this beauty they were flying!!!  This is one huge flag!  Reminds me of the ones you normally see flying above the Texas car dealerships.  It was unfurling in the high wind and sure was pretty!IMAG0076

We crossed the Leon & Brazos rivers….both much lower than normal, but still beautiful.   Here are a couple of photos from the Leon.  It’s really rugged with rocky banks… IMAG0083

There were boaters and fishermen out there when we crossed the bridge on State Hwy 290.  The wind was nearly gale force.   Sure wouldn’t have caught me out on the water like that!

The river is really pretty when the sun is shining.  It was pretty overcast coming in today.     you can see the white along the shore…that should all be way underwater.

I’ll try to get a photo of the Brazos on our way home.
