Hinds’ Feet on High Places
Author: Hannah Hurnard
“The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places” Habakkuk 3:19
This was really hard for me to get into, but well worth the reading. The main character is Much-Afraid. She is led on a journey of growth and discovery by the Chief Shepherd. Her companions Suffering and Sorrow help her through the valleys, along the Sea of Loneliness and to the mountains. Much-Afraid learns much while facing her enemies of Craven Fear, Pride, Resentment, Bitterness, and Self Pity.
A beautiful allegory demonstrating the desire of God’s children to be led to new heights of love, joy and victory. I found it very easy to identify with Much-Afraid…and recognized her enemies and limitations. Her journey is anything but easy. Brings home the point that becoming a Christian doesn’t mean we won’t encounter problems. Doesn’t mean life will be easy. We always have to be on guard, girded in the total armor of God. As Much-Afraid’s journey shows, we cannot ignore the Devil’s insidious ways if we want to grow in our walk with God.
Thank you, Betty for sending this book my way!
