We were invited to a 4th of July celebration this evening…they were serving hot dogs, chips, homemade ice cream with cupcakes, cake and brownies. Was a fun couple of hours of fellowship with some of our neighbors and some friends we don’t get to see very often.
They gave out awards for the ice cream in 4 different categories. The “Peoples Choice” awards were a ice cream cone hat (poster board decorated and rolled up like a waffle cone) which went to a church member who is also with the State Highway Patrol…and the “Golden Scoop” award….which as you’ve already guessed was an old timey ice cream scooper that had been painted gold and decorated. It was fun.
There was a killer rich chocolate with almonds…and a really yummy cherry vanilla…along with a bunch of other good flavors. We were almost too late in the line to get ice cream, lol. Will have to get there earlier next year!
Most of the firework shows were last night. We didn’t go watch them this year. I don’t think I could’ve ridden the hour to get to the closest one…nor sat on the stadium seats for the hour of the show. Had enough problems with locals firing them off the bridge last night…pretty, but dangerous when the grounds/trees are so darned dry.
Anyway, hope you’ve all had a terrific 4th.
