What a day!

I thought I was going to have a day of quilting and being lazy….NOT! Ernie came home from an early morning Men’s Breakfast and decided (after a 2 hour nap) that we needed to go visit his Mom in Roscoe. That’s a 2 hour drive each way, but it was okay. We listened to an audio book both directions. Took his Mom to Walmart, visited for awhile, then headed home. We stopped for dinner in Abilene and made it home by 8:30PM.

The Roscoe area has become the “Wind Energy Capital of the World”!   It is completely surrounded by fields of towers.  If you’re ever on Interstate 20 through the area,  you’ll be astounded by the number of towers!

The tower sections are made elsewhere, shipped to Coleman, TX where they are painted, outfitted with the interior wiring, metal platforms and ladders…then they’re shipped by truck rigs to wherever they will be installed.   The blades are transported 1 per truck through Coleman to wherever the towers are being sent.   I’m assuming the motor assembly comes from a different direction as we don’t see them on the highways around here.

Coming home,  Ernie ran over the head of a large diamond back rattlesnake….

Then,  as we got closer to Burkett, we found this guy on the side of the road.  Think this one is a Bull Snake.   It has a black forked tongue and round eyes.   It watched us while we watched it.  Didn’t appear overly concerned.   I didn’t get out of the car though.

Now we’re home, cats have been fed and it’s time to QUILT!

Merry-Go-Geese…final installment

has been posted!   It’s under Merry-Go-Geese in the left sidebar.

This file has the long diamond borders and the corner setting squares.   I hope you’ve enjoyed the process as much as I have.

I would love to have photos of your tops/completed quilts to post on the blog.  You may email your photos to me at patchkat7@web-access.net
